NEW YORK - Sept. 8, 2022 /PRNewswire/ - Today the Israel Ministry of Tourism announced record-breaking numbers of visitors from the United States who visited Israel in the months of July and August. The country welcomed 78,000 visitors from the United States for July 2022. This represents a 4% rise over 2019, and 71,000 tourists from the United States for August 2022. This is an increase of 13% from the year before.
Eyal Carlin (North American Tourism Commissioner) declared that it was exciting to observe an increase in tourism to Israel from the United States. Already surpassing the record-breaking numbers of 2019 he stated. "The United States is the most popular destination for Israel inbound tourism. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, we had record-breaking numbers of tourism entry every month. This is a positive trend that we're very happy about and anticipate an upward trajectory for months to be."
Canada is also on track, like the United States, to surpass the number of tourists who visit Israel. In July 2022, Canada saw 7,200 tourists and August was a record the number increase to 6,000.
Gal Hana, Consul for Canada and Director of the Israel Ministry of Tourism declared that "it's thrilling to observe how tourism in Canada is recovering." We are getting close to our record numbers for 2019, and we are anticipating that this increase in travel to Israel will continue as Canadians feel more at home in Israel.
Israel has welcomed more than 4.6 million tourists in 2019. 969,600 were from the United States. The country's official reopening for all tourists in May was a success, with more than 600,000.
